CroMoly FRAME NOTES

Whereas other builders have saved money by switching to unbranded tubesets from Taiwan (with heavier seamed tubing that is either plain gauge or minimally butted), Santana continues to work with Columbus™ of Italy to draw superior tandem specific tubes.

Compared to 11/11/11 plain-gauge or minimally-butted 10/7/10 tubing found on other steel tandems, our seamless CroMoly from Columbus can be drawn to 8/5/8 thinwall. The resulting frame is more efficient, more comfortable, and 20–45% lighter.

• 32mm unpierced SuperSize™ top- and lateral- and seat-tubes
• Conical 35–44mm down tube
• 60x40mm ultrawide oval bottom tube
• Comfortable double-tapered seat stays
• 35x23mm oversize unindented chainstays

When testing frame efficiency of various tandems (measured frameset stiffness divided by actual weight), Santana's least expensive CroMoly models easily outscore the costliest aluminum models from our competition.
