Santana’s coupled tandem frames, built with oval couplers and double-butted coupler tubes, are typically 2 pounds lighter than flexier designs with plain-gauge tubes. To the listed comparison weights of Santana’s standard models add 2 pounds for steel couplers, 1 pound for aluminum or titanium couplers.

• Stainless couplers for CroMoly or Niobium tandems: add $1,500

• Aluminum couplers for aluminum or Scandium tandems: add $2,250 (note: oval aluminum couplers require Scandium tubeset)

• Titanium couplers for titanium or IsoGrid® carbon tandems: add $3,000
