Sonoma Country Tandem Rally

September 6-9, 2010 - More Information

Overview: Monday’s Labor Day ride includes pauses for a vineyard tour plus tastings at a pair of distinguished vineyards within Sonoma’s Dry Creek appellation. Tuesday’s ride along the Russian River Valley stops to tour Korbel’s famous Champagne Cellars (long riders will ride through the Armstrong Grove of Coastal California Redwoods). Wednesday’s ride through the Anderson Valley passes the Calistoga Geyser to visit three wineries and an art gallery in the upper Napa Valley. Thursday’s pre-brunch farewell ride cruises through Healdsburg to reach a famous bakery.

Mileages: With all summer to get in shape, September should coincide with your annual peak fitness! The toughest day for most teams (to reach Wednesday’s lunch in the Napa Valley) will be a 42 mile round trip with an 800-foot climb. The remaining easier days all include rolling terrain. Stronger teams who forgo long stops at vineyards can enjoy epic rides of up to 80 miles.

Included: Registration of $919 per person includes four days of expertly planned rides, three nights of upscale lodging at Geyserville Inn, all meals, plus various admissions, guided tours and tastings.

Option: As the Napa and Sonoma Valleys are the epicenter of American wine and cuisine, with each course of our chef's signature dinners couples can enjoy an expertly-paired rare and/or reserve vintage wine—usually from an appellation we rode through earlier in the day.

Nearest Airports: While San Francisco has more flights, Oakland is slightly closer. Both airports are served by Southwest—the no hassle airline that accepts all boxed tandems (weighing up to 100 pounds) for only $50. If you’d rather ship your tandem by truck, we’ll send full info on Santana’s discounted rates.

More Questions: Because this rally is already half full, phone Jan McCready toll free at 800/ 334-6136. She can answer questions and reserve your space by phone.
